Connor, Carr conduct risk management seminar for nurse anesthetists

PROVIDENCE (Dec. 7, 2009) – Partner Francis A. Connor, III and Associate Angela L. Carr recently conducted a seminar on pitfalls in anesthesia chart documentation.

Connor and Carr addressed different sections of anesthesiology records, and suggested to the audience of about 45 nurse anesthetists what information can and should be documented to improve the quality of patient care, protect healthcare providers against being sued, and strengthen their defense in the event litigation ensues.

The December 5 seminar, held at the Marriott Courtyard Providence Downtown, was hosted by the Rhode Island Association of Nurse Anesthetists as part of its Fall 2009 Educational Conference.

“It’s so important for medical providers to document their procedures properly in order to avoid potential problems should a lawsuit be filed,” Carr said. “Our goal is to help medical providers understand what potential pitfalls exist in medical records and how to plan ahead.”
