Firm attorneys guide RI school superintendents, HR professionals on employment law issues

January 29, 2010

PROVIDENCE (Jan. 27, 2010) – Stephen Adams, David Kane and Matt Plain recently conducted a seminar for Rhode Island school superintendents and human resources professionals concerning disability and workers' compensation law.

Adams, Kane and Plain provided a broad overview of disability law and workers’ compensation as applied in the school context, and explored the parameters of the law related to physical and psychological injuries in the education field.

The attorneys also reviewed risk management issues, workplace safety and procedural best practices in processing claims.

“The superintendents and HR professionals enthusiastically participated in the seminar, asking many questions about the law and how it applied to school districts,” Adams said. “We are happy to have offered them some guidance on what can be difficult legal issues.”

The Rhode Island School Superintendent’s Association sponsored the two-hour program, entitled, “In the Line of Duty: Handling Workplace Injuries and Employees with Disabilities in Rhode Island Schools.”
