Gilman speaks at national conference for organ transplant professionals

BOSTON (Aug. 6, 2010) – Pamela S. Gilman recently addressed potential legal issues confronting professionals involved in organ and tissue transplants at the 35th annual national conference of the North American Transplant Coordinators Organization (NATCO).

At the Aug. 1-4 conference, Gilman  reviewed common liability issues and discussed how transplant coordinators can avoid legal pitfalls. She was the only lawyer among the many speakers scheduled at the Florida event.

Gilman is a renowned medical malpractice defense attorney who has tried and won over 40 cases in her career. She persuaded the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court to dismiss a negligence lawsuit against an organ bank based on good faith immunity under the Uniform Anatomical Gift Act. Carey v. New England Organ Bank, 446 Mass. 270 (2006). The SJC’s opinion established new law in Massachusetts on applying the good faith immunity standard.

In addition to her busy trial practice, Gilman is administrative partner of Taylor Duane’s Boston office.
