Allan E. Taylor

Allan E. Taylor has devoted his distinguished career to becoming one of the most skilled civil litigators in New England, focusing his practice particularly in the areas of insurance and reinsurance. Mr. Taylor is a nationally recognized expert in insurance, litigating an extensive number of insurance and reinsurance disputes across the country, and regularly serving as an arbitrator of insurance disputes. The matters in which Mr. Taylor has played a prominent role have often involved hundreds of millions of dollars. He also provides extensive advice to insurers in the drafting of policy language and coordinating large insurance and reinsurance programs.

Like many of the attorneys at Taylor Duane, Mr. Taylor has extensive civil trial experience in the state and federal courts in a variety of areas of law, including personal injury, professional liability, business disputes and environmental law.

Mr. Taylor has appeared in the federal courts in California, Minnesota, New York and Rhode Island. In addition, he has appeared before state courts in California, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Washington and West Virginia.

Representative Accomplishments

Mr. Taylor has achieved notable successes in numerous cases involving sophisticated insurance issues and where millions of dollars were at stake. For example, he has recently handled a major reinsurance arbitration in New York that resulted in a favorable $77.5 million settlement for his client. Mr. Taylor also recently defended a $200 million court action for insurance coverage by one of the nation’s largest corporations.

Personal and Civic Affiliations

Mr. Taylor is a member of the American Bar Association’s Litigation, Tort, and Insurance Practice Sections, and Litigation Section Subcommittee on Professional Liability. He is also a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, as well as the AIDA Reinsurance and Insurance Arbitration Society (ARIAS-U.S.), which promotes improvement of the insurance and reinsurance arbitration process for the international and domestic markets. Mr. Taylor is past vice president of Family Service of Greater Boston, and he also helped create Project Family Independence, which provides housing to single parents in the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston.

Military

Mr. Taylor was a U.S. Army Officer from 1969-1971, serving in Vietnam in 1970-1971 where he was awarded the Air Medal and the Bronze Star.
