Heather J. Kilmartin
Ms. Kilmartin focuses her practice on employment law, nursing home litigation, professional liability defense, and general counsel services for small businesses. She has presented at seminars on insurance law issues.
Representative Accomplishments
Ms. Kilmartin has created and reviewed contracts governing various business relationships, as well as non-disclosure and non-compete agreements. As a law clerk for the Rhode Island Supreme Court, she gained considerable insight on the judiciary, litigation and numerous areas of law.
Ms. Kilmartin co-authored “Transparency and Public Participation in the Rulemaking Process: Recommendations for the New Administration,” presented at the American Bar Association’s 2008 Administrative Law Conference and published at 77 George Washington L. Rev. 924 (June 2009). The article will be excerpted in the forthcoming 11th edition of Administrative Law: Cases and Comments (Peter L. Strauss et al.).
Clerkships
Ms. Kilmartin served as lead clerk for Rhode Island Supreme Court Chief Justice Paul A. Suttell (2009-10), and as clerk for Rhode Island Supreme Court Justice William P. Robinson III (2008-09).
Professional and Civic Affiliations
Ms. Kilmartin is a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association. She serves on the board of directors of New Urban Arts, a Providence-based nonprofit organization.
